An Evening with Kaid Benfield: People Habitat
We have an exciting opportunity to host Kaid Benfield in Palo Alto for an evening, as part of his book tour for
People Habitat: 25 Ways to Think About Greener, Healthier Cities Date/Time: Tuesday February 4, 2014, 6:00-7:30p Location: 1001 Emerson Street, Palo Alto, CA (private residence) Space is limited, first come, first served. Please pre-register to be assured of a space. In his new book, People Habitat, Kaid Benfield writes about the attributes of character and comfort that create neighborhoods and cities that people love. “Habitat” that makes people happy is important to making places environmentally sustainable. Currently, Palo Alto and neighboring communities are wrestling with issues brought about by economic growth, and concerns that the changes will damage beloved places. Benfield brings expert perspective on how other communities around the country address similar issues, trends for suburban neighborhoods, and how policies can reinforce or hinder good people habitat. Kaid Benfield is special counsel for urban solutions in the Washington DC NRDC office and co-founder of the LEED-ND rating system, which incorporates place and transportation into the assessment of green building. He writes frequently about human-scale places. To learn more, please see Kaid’s blog. Event brought to you in partnership with Island Press, Friends of Caltrain, Green Planning Action and Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter. |
